๐Ÿ‘‰ What can I expect when switching through Onedox?

It's super easy! We do almost all the work for you such as filling in the online forms so all it requires is a few button clicks. Read more on what that process looks like...

๐Ÿ‘‰ I am in contract with my current supplier, can I switch now?

Exit fees do not apply when you are within 6 weeks or so of your contract end date, so you have time to research a new tariff and switch well before your current contract is up and your charges increase.ย

Even if you are mid-contract and exit fees apply, Onedox will notify you of how much youโ€™ll save if you switch now. You can still save even after paying exit fees. Sometimes it's worth it to pay a bit upfront now to move onto a much cheaper deal overall!

๐Ÿ‘‰ ย I have a smart meter - what happens when I switch?

Switching is possible with the most common 1st generation smart meters, however, it's likely that your new supplier will then need to operate your smart meter as a traditional meter requiring readings to be sent in. Read more about switching with smart meters...

๐Ÿ‘‰ How can I tell if I have an economy 7 meter?ย

With an Economy 7 meter, you pay two different rates for your electricity โ€“ one rate for daytime and a different (cheaper) rate during the night.ย

๐Ÿ‘‰ I have an outstanding balance with my energy provider - can I switch?

Absolutely. Your energy provider will issue a final statement six weeks after the switch and you can arrange with them how to settle the final balance, whether it's you paying them the balance or vice versa.ย

๐Ÿ‘‰ Will I experience any downtime or overlap in my bills?

No, the switch is seamless and no downtime in energy service will be experienced.ย

Make sure to get meter readings on the day of the switch and communicate these to both old and new energy providers.

Other than getting the meter readings, you don't even need to be home for the switch to happen. All the work is done by the providers remotely.

๐Ÿ‘‰ I want to cancel a switch, what now?

Don't worry! This is exactly why there is a required 14 day 'cooling off' period so you can change your mind before any switch happens. The confirmation email you receive from Energylinx will give instructions on how you can cancel a switch.ย

๐Ÿ‘‰ I have a pre-pay meter โ€“ can I switch to a new provider?

Yes, if you have a pre-pay meter, you can still switch though your options may be a bit more limited than for credit meters.

If your pre-pay energy account is linked to Onedox, we will automatically let you know what the best available pre-payment tariffs are. ๐Ÿ‘ย

๐Ÿ‘‰ Why is paying by Direct Debit a cheaper option?

If you are a post-pay customer, the cheapest way to pay is by direct debit. This option can typically save you around ยฃ70 a year versus paying on receipt of your bill.

Suppliers charge less for direct debit as it means there is less paperwork for them and therefore less cost.ย

When you pay by direct debit, the amount taken is the same each month as itโ€™s intended to be an average of what you will use during the whole year.ย

To get the most accurate bills, ensure you provide regular meter readings to your energy supplier. If you donโ€™t provide regular meter readings, your bills and direct debit amounts will be based on estimates, which are typically higher than would be the case if you provide readings.
